Hussar Stables curriculum

Our Curriculum

A structured, progressive path from first-time rider to confident equestrian. Every level builds on the last — no shortcuts, no rushing.

We Teach Riders to Think Like Horsemen

At Hussar Stables, we believe riding is a conversation between horse and rider. Our curriculum is designed to develop that conversation — starting with safety and basic communication, progressing toward refinement and true partnership.

We draw from Working Equitation, classical dressage, and Alta Escuela traditions. These disciplines share a common thread: respect for the horse, patience in training, and the pursuit of lightness and harmony.

Our Disciplines

Working Equitation

Working Equitation

A discipline that tests horse and rider across four phases: dressage, ease of handling (obstacles), speed trial, and cattle work. It rewards harmony, precision, and partnership.

Classical Dressage

Classical Dressage

The foundation of all riding. Classical dressage develops balance, suppleness, and communication between horse and rider. Every rider at Hussar Stables learns dressage principles from day one.

Alta Escuela

Alta Escuela

The highest form of classical horsemanship, rooted in the Spanish and Portuguese traditions. Alta Escuela movements include the levade, courbette, and capriole — the pinnacle of horse training.
